Fine Line Tattoo Artist in Amsterdam
Fine Line, Single Needle & Tiny Tattoos
Looking for a fine line tattoo in Amsterdam? I’m Elmar, a tattoo artist specialising in fine line, single needle and tiny tattoos, working from my private tattoo studio in Amsterdam.
I create delicate, detailed tattoos with a focus on clean lines, thoughtful design and tattoos that fit naturally with your body. From a tiny first tattoo to a detailed single needle piece or a completely custom design, every tattoo is approached individually.
My studio is a relaxed and personal space where there is time to discuss your idea, placement and size before we start.
Tattoo Styles
Fine Line Tattoos
Fine line tattooing uses thin, precise lines to create elegant and detailed designs. It can be used for everything from botanical and ornamental tattoos to lettering, animals and minimalist artwork.
A good fine line tattoo is not simply about making every line as thin as possible. The design, size, placement and amount of detail all influence how the tattoo will look as it ages.
Single Needle Tattoos
Single needle tattooing describes a technique where very small needle configurations — sometimes literally a single needle — are used to create exceptionally fine details.
It is particularly suited to delicate linework, small illustrative tattoos and designs where precision is important.
Fine line and single needle are often used interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same thing: fine line describes the visual style, while single needle describes the technique used to create it.

Tiny Tattoos
Small tattoos may look simple, but creating a tattoo that works at a tiny scale requires careful choices.
Lines need enough space to remain readable, details need to work with the size of the tattoo and the placement can make a big difference.
I specialise in creating tiny tattoos that are small without sacrificing the design.
Perfect for a first tattoo, a subtle personal symbol, a memory, matching tattoos or simply something you love.
Meet Elmar
Your Tattoo Artist in Amsterdam
I’m Elmar Lenior, an Amsterdam-based tattoo artist with a particular love for precise and detailed work.
Before tattooing became my profession, I spent many years working as a sound engineer in television, film and commercials. It may seem like a completely different world, but both professions require something I have always enjoyed: precision, concentration and attention to small details.
Today I bring that same approach to tattooing.
I don’t want appointments to feel rushed. We take the time to look at your idea, discuss the size and placement and make adjustments where necessary before the tattoo begins.
Whether this is your twentieth tattoo or your very first one, you are always welcome to ask questions.
Custom Tattoos
Your Idea, Designed for You
You don’t need to arrive with a finished tattoo design.
A photograph, drawing, screenshot, memory or even a rough idea can be enough to start.
Send me what you have in mind and I can help translate it into a tattoo while considering:
- the size of the tattoo;
- placement on the body;
- level of detail;
- line weight;
- composition;
- and how the tattoo is likely to age.
I’m happy to use reference images as inspiration, but I don’t copy another tattoo artist’s work exactly.
The goal is to create something that feels like your tattoo.
Tattoo Portfolio
Recent Work
The best way to decide whether a tattoo artist is right for you is to look at their actual work.
My portfolio includes examples of fine line tattoos, single needle tattoos, tiny tattoos and custom pieces created in my Amsterdam studio.
Have a look around and see whether my style matches what you have in mind.
First Tattoo?
You’re definitely not the only one.
A large part of my work is with people getting their first tattoo, and it’s completely normal to have questions about pain, size, placement, healing or what happens during an appointment.
There is no expectation that you already know how tattooing works.
Before we begin, I’ll explain the process and we can take the time to make sure you are comfortable with the design and placement.
If you’re nervous, just tell me.

Tattoo Prices in Amsterdam
The price of a tattoo depends on more than its physical size.
A tiny detailed tattoo can sometimes require more preparation and precision than a larger, simpler design. Placement, complexity and the amount of design work can all influence the final price.
That’s why I’ve created a separate page explaining my pricing and what is included.
If you already have an idea, you can also send it to me for a price indication before booking.
Visiting Amsterdam?
Getting a Tattoo While You’re Here
Yes — international visitors are very welcome.
If you’re visiting Amsterdam and would like to get tattooed during your trip, you can contact me before you arrive and arrange your appointment in advance.
One thing to consider is when during your trip you get tattooed.
A fresh tattoo should be protected from strong sunlight and shouldn’t be soaked in swimming pools, the sea, baths or hot tubs while it begins to heal. If your Amsterdam trip is part of a longer holiday, we can take that into account when planning your appointment.
I speak Dutch and English, so communicating your idea won’t be a problem.
Tattoo Aftercare
Good tattooing doesn’t end when you leave the studio.
How you care for your tattoo during the first days and weeks can influence how comfortably it heals and how the tattoo ultimately looks.
This is especially important with delicate fine line, single needle and tiny tattoos, where small details matter.
You’ll receive aftercare instructions after your appointment, and you can always find them again on the website.
